UMF's Organic Garden

located behind the Honors house

The Organic Garden project was started by Zach Lopez in the 05-06 school year. UMF purchased a house on Lincoln Street (now the Honors Center) which had raised beds established in the backyard. The SCC students cleaned the beds up last spring and planted tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, corn, beans and other veggies.

The pictures above are some SCC students cleaning the beds out this fall. Garlic and winter rye are being planted in October. We'll be doing a lot more work this spring.

UMF's orchard is also located in the yard of the Honors house. Different pear varieties as well as apple trees are growing.
