The mission of the Sustainable Campus Coalition (SCC) is to promote environmental sustainability on our campus and in the greater Farmington community.  We seek to accomplish this goal through collaborations among students, staff, faculty, and community members, and through activities from which we will learn skills, broaden our perspectives, deepen our understanding of environmental issues and sustainability, and have fun.

The Sustainable Campus Coalition was formed with the encouragement of UMF's President Dr. Theo Kalikow, in 2001. SCC is part of an umbrella organization called the Green Campus Consortium of Maine. Consortium meetings are held at least once a semester. The charter members of this group are: Bates College, Bowdoin College, Chewonki Foundation, Colby College, College of the Atlantic, DEP, MOFGA, Unity College, University of Maine Farmington, University of Maine Fort Kent, University of Maine, University of Maine Machias, University of New England, University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, and the State Planning Office.

SCC UPDATE: UMF will be hosting the 6th Annual Maine Climate Summit on April 11 and 12 of 2009. We are currently in the planning stages and we will keep you posted on the event as it develops.
